AirWave Adds Support for Five Additional Leading Wireless Hardware Brands

AirWave’s New 5.1 Software Now Supports Brands Representing 90%+ of the Enterprise Wireless Market>

San Mateo, CA – June 19, 2007– AirWave Wireless, the leader in wireless network management and security, today announced that its most recent software release, version 5.1, now supports WiFi hardware products from Trapeze Networks, Meru Networks, Nortel, 3Com, and Foundry Networks. The AirWave Wireless Management Suite software is a flexible, vendor-agnostic network management solution that allows enterprise IT staff to manage either homogeneous single-vendor networks or complex, heterogeneous networks from the same integrated console.

AirWave’s 5.1 software release adds the aforementioned vendors to an existing roster of supported WiFi market leaders, including Cisco, Aruba, ProCurve Networking by HP, Motorola (Symbol), Proxim, Enterasys, Tropos, Avaya, and many others. As a result, AirWave software supports hardware vendors controlling more than 90% of the enterprise WiFi market. The AirWave software manages and controls not just ‘thin’ access points and controllers, but also autonomous APs, mesh networks, point-to-point products, and even WiMAX.

“Our customers place great value on maintaining flexibility and ensuring that their network engineers and helpdesk staff can support wireless networks that are growing larger and more diverse every day,” said AirWave CEO Gary Hegna. “By supporting most of the leading hardware vendors and product lines we give customers control over their destiny, allowing them to manage their hardware lifecycles and select the products that best meet their specific needs,” Hegna noted.

AirWave customer survey data shows that 70% of organizations plan to evaluate wireless products from providers other than their primary incumbent supplier between now and the end of 2008 and that roughly half are already managing mixed architecture networks today.

Many AirWave customers evaluate new vendors’ products as they prepare to expand or upgrade their existing networks, while others may select specialized solutions from a secondary vendor for specific functions or unusual environments – such as outdoor coverage, point-to-point connections between buildings, remote offices or manufacturing floors.

“In earlier phases of our wireless network rollout, we used access points from other vendors,” said David Nielsen from Utah Valley State University. “When we looked at our changing usage patterns and our need for denser coverage in the future, we determined that products from Trapeze were the best fit for our requirements. AirWave’s support for Trapeze makes this decision easy to implement, because our IT staff can use the same management console to monitor both the older equipment and our new Trapeze gear,” he added.

The new AirWave Wireless Management Suite with support for these vendors’ products is available today from AirWave and its authorized distribution partners. The software also includes critical features for large wireless networks like Custom Compliance Audits, and an enhanced user interface with “Quick View” location maps, and 3-D navigation for improved visibility and control over wireless networks. The AirWave Wireless Management Suite is currently in use by approximately 450 organizations and service providers worldwide to manage wireless networks ranging from 25 to 25,000+ access points.
